Danger looms as Pupils study in deep cracked classroom block
Parents and Teachers Association of the Bagabaga Demonstration Primary School have expressed revulsion over the nature of a dilapidated 3-classroom block in the School.
Expressing his emotion, Assemblyman for Sagnarigu Electoral area, Baba Issah said, the local authority has failed to address the infrastructure challenges of the school.
He told SaganitvOline that the ramshackle block accommodates over 400 pupils, packed into a ‘nearly death trap’ structure with cracks all over the walls.
The Bagabaga Demonstration School which was established in the early 1950’s has churned out ‘fine products’ in academia across many profession such as Teaching, nursing, engineering, banking as well as those in the legal profession.
However, condition of the 3 unit classroom block which has its doors and windows removed does not resonate well with the name of the school, let alone meet the standard of teaching and learning of the academic institution.
According to the parents, the situation has negatively impacted academic performance. Adding in times of rain while classes are halted, pupils seek shelter elsewhere as they cannot sit in class to receive tuition.
Mr. Issah further disclosed that effort to get the Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly and the MP for the area to address the infrastructure deficit has proven futile.
To this end, he appealed to government, NGOs, benevolent organizations, Philanthropists and general public to come to their aid.
