Haruna Iddrisu promises to construct astro-turf in his constituency
Member of paliament for Tamale South constituency Haruna Iddrisu has promised his constituents to construct astro-turf in Lamashegu at Young Nawara school.
The minority leader said he is committed to upgrade the sandy park to a befitting modern standard pitch with necessary facilities to be able to help groom and nurture talents from the constituency in the next NDC government under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama.
The minority leader says, ‘‘Those young footballers who are using Young Naawari school park as their training ground .I’m giving them good news. Come 2020 John Dramani Mahama is going to beat Akufo Addo, is going to be landslide victory. When that happens, me as Haruna Iddrisu your MP, I will not step my foot onto this ground until it is upgraded and turn into Astro-turf. Do you understand my language”?
He noted that, the park deserves to be atro-turf in the constituency. So if the next government fails to execute his agenda to transform sports in the area, he will use his resources, influence and capacity as MP for the area to fulfill his promise.
‘’I’m saying Young Nawara park qualifies to be Astro-turf park and I will do just that. Even when government fails to do it in my capacity I will do it for you. To develop football in this community and this area and in Tamale, I will contribute to redevelop this to a sport excellence park for football. That will happen in the next coming month and years as I get elected to be Member of Parliament’’.
The minority leader is noted for his love for sports especially football as he owns a division one league club based in Tamale called Steadfast.
Reports are also rife that the Tamale South MP has also secured several acres of land in his constituency aimed at establishing football academy for breeding of players from the north.
He also likes to train occasionally with some footballers at the Aliu Mahama during weekends any time he is in Tamale.
