Head Mistress of Dabokpa Institute denies students admission
Scores of Junior High School graduates have been left stranded at the premises of Dapokpa Technical and Vocational Institute on Friday morning March 19, 2021, after the Head Mistress of the School Madam Mariama Abdulai allegedly denied them admission to the school after they have been duly placed via the computerized system.
According to the potential SHS students, they have been visiting the Head Mistress' office for about three weeks now for submission of their placement forms for admission processes to the school but had been denied enrollment with the excuse that the institution lacks enough facilities including classrooms to accommodate students beyond its capacity and intake.
This has left students in bewilderment as what steps to take to get their placement issues resolved before academic exercise kickstarts for the new entrants for the 2021 academic year.
Some parents and guardians who accompanied their wards to the school in attempt to facilitate their admission accused the Head Mistress for giving out admissions to cronies through the back door.
Speaking to Saganitvonline.com, they alleged that while refusing to grant their wards admission, the Head Mistress is secretly issuing admissions to others who under no circumstances have been placed at the school by the computerized system.
One Mr Awal who is a teacher alleges that "the information we are picking is that she is going behind the door issuing admission letters to some particular people, we don't know whether she is selling them or whatever. But what we are saying is our children had to be admitted. Since the government is saying that they should all be sent to school, the woman has to admit them.
He also noted that the woman has no powers to deny any student admission."
Adding that "it is not her duty to drag any child away with the reason that she has no place to keep them. She has to keep the children and send the problem to the government that she has no facility so that the Government will provide."
Meanwhile, all attempts to reach the Head Mistress of Dabokpa Technical and Vocational Institute to respond to the issue proved futile.
