John Mahama to support RTU With GH¢50k ahead of 2021/22 GPL season

Former president of the republic of Ghana John Dramani Mahama has pledge to support RTU with GH¢ 50,000 to assist in their preparation towards the upcoming 2021/22 GPL season.

The pride of the North secured a return into the top flight of Ghana football after emerging as champions in Division One Zone One with 65 points, following 8 years of battle in the lower division. The new season starts on the 29th of October 2021 and 18 premier league teams will compete for the trophy including Real Tamale United.

The former President, who grew up and also attained his basic education in Tamale, is a big sympathizer of the club.

Addressing a gathering at the final funeral rites of the late jones Alhassan Abu, Mr John Mahama said,

“Together everybody knows the good work that they did in bringing our team RTU up, any time I was asked which team do I support, I said I support Real Tamale United but we have been relegated and so what team do I support, I said I support RTU but they say RTU is not is not in the premier league but I say I support RTU, until RTU come back to the premier league I don’t support any team. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate RTU for qualifying into the premier league and to say that we are all supporters of RTU. As the Regional Minister said let us all come together to support the pride of the north that’s our team and so between myself and the NDC group in parliament led by NDC group leader Haruna Iddrisu we are going to make a donation of GH¢ 50,000.00 to RTU to prepare for the premier league and that is not all we will be following ‘ADMON’ and all of you guys who are managing the team so that we will help you so that RTU will reclaim its former glory”.

Former president Mahama, made the remarks in Tamale on Sunday 22, August, 2021 during the final funeral rites of the late Jones Alhassan Abu.

Mr. Jones passed on in Ivory Coast on the 10th August 2021 when he led a GFA delegation to accompany Hassacas Ladies to the maiden edition of WAFU Zone B tournament.

Meanwhile, RTU is back in training for the upcoming Division One League Super Cup which will commence on 23rd September and end on Saturday 2nd October, 2021.
