MTN Ghana Donates Food Items to Muslims in Tamale in Support of Ramadan and Eid ul-Fitr
In the spirit of Ramadan and Eid ul-Fitr, and in furtherance of the existing relationship between MTN Ghana with the Muslim community in Tamale, the Telecommunications giant on May 11 2021 donated food items to the Tamale Central Mosque in support of Ramadan and Eid ul-Fitr.
Items donated includes 10Bags of Rice, 10 Cartons of Vegetable Oil, Packs of Mineral Water, Packs of soft drinks, a Ram and Airtime worth GH¢500
Presenting the items, area sales manager for MTN Ghana, North Regions, Obed Adu-Amankwaah said, The outbreak of the COVID-19 has changed dynamics of the Eid ul-Fitr celebrations all over the world, and despite the changes, Eid remains a time of giving thanks for all the blessings in our lives, and reaching out to those in need.
According to him, "We are here today to extend our warmest regards and most sincere wishes from the Management and staff of MTN to you for the relationship we have enjoyed with the Muslim Community over the years".
Mr Amankwaah further said, "This is certainly different to the Eid we have experienced and accustomed to in the past and therefore encouraged the Muslim community to strictly adhere to the covid-19 protocols during the Eid celebrations. Adding that, all must endeavor to wash and sanitize hands regularly and also keep practicing social distancing.
In addition to the donations made to the Tamale Central Mosque, MTN is also donating to the regional Chief Imams in Takoradi, and Kumasi as well as the National Chief Imam in Accra.
They will also present food items to Muslim families in Nima, Maamobi, Fadama, Ashaiman, Kosoa, Koforidua Zongo, Asawase, Aboabo, Sawaba, MoshieZongo and Akwatia line.
Receiving the items, the regional Chief Imam said, the gesture made by MTN Ghana will go a long way to support the Muslim Community, whist thanking MTN for their continues support.
Mr amankwaah also assured that, MTN Ghana has set-aside equivalent of US$25 million to support legacy projects and other Community intervention projects.
"We also want to take this opportunity to inform the office of the Regional Chief Imam that, MTN Ghana will mark the 25th Anniversary of its operations this year. As part of the celebrations, MTN Ghana has set-aside the equivalent of US$25 million to support the country with a legacy project and other Community intervention projects".
