NR: Health Services Workers’ Union threatens strike action over unpaid allowances
Health Services Workers Union (HSWU), Tamale Teaching Hospital Branch have issued one day ultimatum to government to resolve their impending condition of service.
According to them, they are ready to embark on industrial action if government fails to address their concerns.
Among other conditions of service concerns raised include lack of payment of book and research allowance, extra risk allowance, fuel allowance, accommodation allowance, uniform allowance, token for pin renewal allowance among others.
In a press conference on Thursday 21/10/2021 at the premises of Tamale Teaching Hospital, National Executive Member for TTH, Sumani Abdul Aziz demanded to meet government on the negotiation table in order to implement a roadmap for their conditions of service else they will withdraw their service indefinitely from the hospital.
He further highlighted the exceptional services that workers of the union offer, by saying that the hospital can operate without the services of other health workers but will grant to a halt if their absence is felt at the facility.
The threat to embark on industrial action by Health services workers union (HSWU), Tamale Teaching Hospital branch comes after several pleas and petition proven futile before relevant authorities, such us president, vice president, Ghana Health Authorities, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission among others.
