Sang: Over 20,000 tubers of yam ravages in fire

Residents of Sang, the capital of Mion district of the northern region woke up on Sunday February 28 to a shock and surprise when tens of thousands of tubers of yams belonging to Mr. Tanko Osman were burnt to ashes at his residents.

Narrating the incidence to Sagani TV, the farmer indicated how his farm-produce were burnt last year at his farm, the reason for which he decided to bring them home this year only for fire to gut them  again.

 

Residents expressed shock and sadness and indicated that the nature of the fire shows that someone could have been responsible for it and called for investigation into the case as well as support for the farmer.

The assembly member for Sang electoral area Hon. Abukari Yakubu who spoke to saganitvonline.com said that the incident is a security threat to the community and called on the general public to assist the farmer get back on his feet since he has lost all his earnings in the fire outbreak.
