Tamale Metro Football Association (TMFA) inaugurated
As football is set to resume at all stages in the country following eased restrictions on covid-19 safety protocols announced by Government, Tamale Metro Football Association(TMFA) today Saturday 21/11/2020 held its inauguration Ceremony at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium to swear into office its Executive council Members (Exco Members)
The Eleven (11) exco members were sworn into office under the supervision of Northern regional Football Association Chairman Abu Hassan Mahamadu Rhyzos with four year mandate to help shape, direct and man affairs of Football activities within Tamale Metropolis.
The inauguration follows after Chairman Abdul Aziz Ramzy was unanimously acclaimed as chairman for Tamale Metro Football Association to lead football activities in the area having gone unopposed in the district Football Associations’ elections.
The colorful ceremony attracted attendance from dignitaries including NRFA chairman, Abu Hassan Rhyzos, Chairman for NRAG, A.A. Alhassan, Veteran Sports Journalists, Mohammed Baako Alhassan and Alhassan Issshaku Dagbamba Naa. Others who witnessed and graced the occasion were former coaches, team managers and club owners.
Abukari Abdul Ganiu member of the Disciplinary committee of TMFA and former Northern regional Juvenile committee chairman chaired the occasion.
Addressing the audience under the theme commitment and sacrifice; key elements in football development, the TMFA chairman urged parents who are major stakeholders in the game to complement efforts of team coaches, Managers and club owners by supporting their wards with training kits such as boots, hose and shin guards among others for their football development. He also urged club owners to enforce the implementation of 'catch them Young' policy introduced by GFA.
On his part, the NRFA chairman Abu Hassan Rhyzos commended TMFA for putting up beautiful, well thought through branded inaugural ceremony. The astute football administrator also charged the newly sworn in exco members to endeavor to cope with the two drivers of football;thus commitment and sacrifice. Adding that if members are able to commit and sacrifice themselves today for the growth and development of football among the young lads nature has a way of rewarding them in future. He also urged TMFA to work closely and collaborate with stakeholders such as GES regarding the use of pitches owned by public schools.
Also speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Veteran Broadcast Journalist, Mohammed Baako Alhassan recounts that occasion as magnitude as inauguration demands memory and recognition of the old folks who sacrificed for the survival of the game in the Northern region.
In his closing remarks, the chairman for the occasion Abukari Abdul Ganiu asked team managers and coaches to be discipline and eschew the use of vulgar and fowl language on match officials during games especially when it is not going in their favor.
Following the inauguration by TMFA on Saturday 21/11/2020, the Association is expected to hit the ground running.
There are 22 division 3 clubs, 26 Juvenile clubs and 8 women's clubs under TaMFA excluding division 2 clubs.
