Tamale Metropolitan Assembly embarks on an inspection exercise across some flood affected areas
Executives of Tamale Metropolitan assembly led by the Presiding member Alhassan Yog' Doo, on behalf of the Mayor has embarked on an inspection exercise across some flood affected areas in the Metropolis to access the rate of damage cause by Sunday's torrential downpour.
Some of the affected areas they visited include, Lamakara, Sagnarigu Dungu, Sagnarigu Kukuo, Sakasaka and Nalung Fong.
Throughout the visit, poor drainage system was established as a major problem facing all affected areas, which needs urgent attention by urban roads and other relevant state authorities.
At Lamakara, the assembly man together with other residents who spoke to Sagani news, blame Tamale South MP, Haruna Iddrissu of failing to ensure an expansion of an already existing drainage system, which is causing an overflow when it rains, thereby exposing the area to flooding.
Assembly Man for Nalung Fong, on his part, called on government to make funds available to pay contractors who have outstanding arrears, in his view, no contractor will be willing to continue a project when government is unwilling to pay outstanding debt.
