There would be no room for clemency; We will deal ruthlessly with hooligans who wants to derail peace in Tamale – N/R Minister
The Northern Regional Minister Salifu Sa-eed, has warned the youth of Tamale to desist from activities that could plunge the city into chaos. He issued this warning at a press conference held at his residence on Friday.
His press conference was necessitated by some disturbances in Tamale by people believed to be supporters of the NDC.They were seen burning lorry tires, harassing people, threatening opponents amid firing of gunshots.
The incident occurred on the evening of Thursday after the Presidential Candidate of the NDC for the 2020 general elections, John Dramani Mahama, rejected the declared results by the chairperson of the Electoral Commission, accusing the commission of rigging both the Parliamentary and Presidential elections in favor of the NPP.
The minister warned the youth and tasked them to abstain from any act that cold stir passion since the security agencies are ready to deal with hooligans who want to derail the peace in Tamale.
“Security has been beefed up with intensified patrols on the streets day and night and that anybody caught with violent conduct will be dealt with. There would not be any room for clemency from religious leaders, opinion leaders and traditional rulers who will intercede on their behalf for release from the grips of the law”.
Hon. Salifu Saa-ed employed the chiefs to call on people within their traditional areas to be law abiding and desist from any activity that will undermine the peace and security of the Northern Region.
