Yendi: Residents hail MP for swift intervention in the peak of water crisis
Residents of Yendi have hailed their Member of Parliament Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama for his swift intervention in the mist of water crisis that has hit the Dagbon capital for about a month now.
The MP, earlier last week donated a cash amount GH¢100,000 to the management of Ghana Water Company Ltd (GWCL) to provide a daily quantity of about 600 barrels of clean treated water to the people of Yendi and its environs.
The people who could not hide their excitement thanked the MP for the kind gesture. They indicated that, it was their first time benefitting such benevolence from a Member of Parliament since the Yendi perennial water crisis started for over 10 years now.
In an interaction with Sagani Tv, the former Presiding Member (PM) and leader of the Farouk Aliu Mahama foundation in charge of distribution, Hon. Ibrahim Abu Zolge said the MP is putting measures in place to ensure a permanent solution to the crisis.
He however refuted allegations that the water is being sold out and that the distribution is based on party membership. Hon. Ibrahim Abu assured the people that every area will get free water until the rainy season sets in as promised by the MP.
He also stressed on the need for stakeholders and the Municipal assembly to come to the aid of the people in ending the perennial water crisis in the Yendi Municipality.
