Yendi - Ya-Na intervenes in Water crises
The King and overlord of Dagbon Ya-Na Abukari II on Tuesday April 6, 2021 visited the Ghana water company treatment plant at the River Dakar (Kulkpini) to have a firsthand experience of the river which has resulted to the perennial water crises in the Yendi municipality.
The King, who was accompanied by the MCE for the Municipality and some members of the Assembly alongside constituency executives of the ruling NPP got worried about the state of the river.
The chief thanked the management of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) for their swift intervention by using a dredging machine to dredge at the source and also adhering to his calls to add up more water tankers to supply water to the people of Yendi.
In an interaction with Sagani TV at the Gbewaa Palace after the visit, the PRO to the palace, Mr. Yakubu Musah outlined some measure the palace has taken to address the water crises.
He indicated that the king has called on the engineers of the Eastern corridor road contractors to come to his aid by helping to dredge the river which they have agreed to. They are currently doing a survey of the river.
The MCE, Alhaj Hamed Abubakari Yussif mentioned that the thirty million Dollar, Yendi water project is not a mirage but is still at a stage where the people cannot see works ongoing.
He however assured the people that very soon ground works will start for all to see.
